Mo. Mahmood Alam / Nalanda. You must have eaten famous sweets of many famous places, but today we are telling you about such a place, which is identified by the tree made of Khove there. This sweet is famous for its purity. Along with India, this tree goes to Bangladesh, America and Saudi Arabia. The way of making it is also traditional. This peda is made in the small town of Nischalganj.
It falls in Ekangarsarai block located 18 km away from district headquarter Bihar Sharif. Nischalganj’s Peda is very famous after Silav’s Khaja. This Peda made of Mawa or Khoya is also very popular in Bihar. It ranks first in sweets made from mava.
If you go for Nalanda excursion, you will find this small town on Bihar Sharif to Ekangarsarai State Highway. Where can you buy Peda? During the journey on this route, the big trees of Nischalganj and the export quality trees attract a lot of attention of the visitors. These are widely sold in buses to small cars. People passing through here buy this tree as a message. Even today, Peda is made in dozens of shops, due to which dozens of families are earning their livelihood. Peda business Dinesh Prasad says that the trees here are made from the milk of mother cow and buffalo only.
Milk is cooked on an earthen stove. Two to two and a half hundred grams of sugar or brown is mixed in one kilo of milk. Mawa and brown are used to make it. For this reason only granulated mawa is used, so that the taste of the peda remains intact. Mawa is fried to the maximum while making Peda. The more you roast the mawa, the fresher the prepared peda will be. While roasting mawa, little by little milk or ghee should be added in between, due to which it becomes easy to roast more. Mawa does not burn while roasting and the color of Mawa becomes light brown. You will not forget the taste of peda.
Whatever may be the event, the tree is of Nischalganj only.
Presently trees are available from ₹ 180 per kg to ₹ 360 per kg. Its fame ranges from all state fairs to state level programs. Be it Rajgir Mahotsav or Buddhist Mahotsav, Patna’s Saras Mela, Sufi Mahotsav or Barabar Mahotsav. The fear of Nischalganj tree is visible in everyone.
